AC (Armor Class) Is the nice number that goes with your character that determines what needs to be rolled to hit you. Your characters size and any points you have into bonuses (Dodge, etc.).
Base AC for most characters will be 10.(Size Medium) For your total HP, you add in whatever points you put into Constitution, if any, and multiply it x2. So if you have a medium build with +2 in Con, your total hp will be 14 starting off.
Tiny Base AC 12, HP per level is 3
Small Base AC 11, HP per level is 4
Medium Base AC 10, HP per level is 5
Large Base AC 9, HP per level is 6
Huge Base AC 8, HP per level is 7
Armor is generally for damage reduction. The heavier the armor you wear, the more likely your dodge bonuses will be a bit restricted. However, with more armor comes more damage reduction in the face of oncoming attacks.
Naked/Silk/Thin Cloth: 0 AC Bonus, 0 Dodge restriction, 0 Dmg Reduction
Padded/Leather/Layered Cloth: +1 AC, 8 Max Dodge, 1 Dmg Reduction
Reinforced Leather/Light Breastplates/Hide/Scale Mails: +2 AC, 6 Max Dodge, 2 Dmg Reduction
Partial Heavy Gear/Medium Breastplates/Half Plate Armor: +3 AC, 4 Max Dodge, 3 Dmg Reduction
Full Heavy Armor/Full Plate: +4 AC, 2 Max Dodge, 4 Dmg Reduction
Two types of shields. Must be using a one-handed weapon to use shields.
Regular Shields/Bucklers: +2 AC for Parry, no penalty to dodge.
Tower Shields: +5 to AC for Parry, -2 to Max Dodge
